Midjourney releases Inpainting 🎨

Big news. After a few weeks waiting on Discord, Midjourney released In-painting (in their parlance: “Vary (region)”). The AI art cyber-hive is abuzz - here are three choice threads, highlighting its form and function:

AI-generated art cannot be copyrighted, rules a US federal judge - note that this is specifically a ruling to do with Stephen Thaler’s “Creativity machine”, a machine that genereates images of its own accord. The case made by the engineer is that as the owner of the machine, copyright should go to him. We shall see…
